Over the past 20 years, Ms. Hamilton has developed a broad legal practice focused on complex casualty litigation, commercial litigation, and appellate law. Her practice areas include: maritime, energy, transportation, premises liability, general casualty litigation, insurance defense and insurance coverage on many types of liability and first party policies. Ms. Hamilton’s appellate practice includes numerous appeals in the Texas Supreme Court, various Texas appellate courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She is also licensed to practice law in the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to her litigation and appellate practice, Ms. Hamilton engages in estate planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts and disability planning documents. She has assisted clients with their estate planning needs for the past 7 years.
Ms. Hamilton received her law degree in 1993 from South Texas College of Law. During law school, she served as a judicial intern with the Fourteenth Court of Appeals. She received her BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989.
Ms. Hamilton’s publications include: How to Win Your Trial and Lose Your Appeal, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Advanced Personal Injury Course (1997), How to Handle the DTPA Lawsuit Part II The Trial – Jury Selection, Court’s Charge and Argument, University of Houston Law Foundation, DTPA Consumer & Insurance Law After Tort Reform (1996), and The Treatment of Prisoners Under International Law, Central and Easter European Law Initiative (1992). This last article was utilized by the emerging Czech and Slovak governments in drafting their Constitutions.
Ms. Hamilton is involved in various civic activities and organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors and is a past President of PROW, The Professional Referral Organization for Women. Ms. Hamilton is a 2013 Woman of Excellence, a designation awarded by the Federation of Houston Professional Women to Houston women for outstanding contributions to their industry, community and leadership service.
